MEANING OF SYMBOLS

The AsthmaNow New Hampshire logo incorporates several symbols relating to living with asthma in New Hampshire. The background scenery was inspired by a view from the top of Mount Cardigan, where one could view the White Mountains in the north and east, and the lakes and valleys in the south. The "A" in the AsthmaNow logo was created from the alchemy symbol for air; the key, for breath. Even the color of dawn's sunrise has symbolic meaning, representing clarity and hope for a healthy future.

Birds have been popular motifs in all cultures, often representing freedom of movement.

Gemini, one of the astrological "air" signs, represents the power of intellect, knowledge, and communication.

The Milky Way was considered by several cultures to represent breath. The Seminole tribe believed the Milky Way was created by their hero, Breath Maker.

The Rune, "Ansuz", symbolizes breath as well as wisdom and communication.

The Udjat is an Egyptian symbol for healing and protection.
